2010 SMA Qld State Conference
First Announcement
The 2010 Sports Medicine Australia Queensland Branch State Conference will be held on the weekend of February 6 and 7 at Novotel Twin Waters Resort on the Sunshine Coast.
SMA Qld invites all health professionals from the fields of Sports Medicine or Sports Science to attend.

Scientific Program
Saturday 6th February will consist of plenary presentations by keynote and invited speakers, and also free papers (see the Call for Abstracts below). Sunday 7th February will consist of concurrent practical workshops, geared towards the specific needs of the SMA member professions, including a CPR update for which a Nationally Recogised Training Statement of Attainment will be issued.

Call for Abstracts
All health professionals whose research is relevant to Sports Medicine, Sports Science or Physical Activity are invited to submit an abstract of their work for consideration. Abstracts should be in Word format, and not more than 300 words in length. The presenting author and all co-researchers should be clearly identified. As well as research-based presentations case studies and reports relevant to the practice of Sport and Exercise Medicine will also be considered.
The close for submission of abstracts is 30 November, 2009.

SMA QLD Emerging Researchers Award:
Students and new presenters will be eligible for consideration for the SMA Qld Emerging Researchers Award. The winner of the award will receive airfare and free registration for the 2010 National SMA conference as well as the opportunity to present their paper at a major national conference. All papers put forward by undergraduate and postgraduate students will be considered for the award, which will be judged by a panel selected by the SMA Qld Conference Scientific Committee.
Conference Venue and Accommodation
Novotel Twin Waters is a favourite conference and holiday venue on the Sunshine Coast. During 2008 it was extensively renovated and all guest rooms have been completely refitted. The resort offers several included free activities such as sailing and canoeing on its own private lake, mountain bikes, a large pool and is also close to a patrolled beach.
